LRU Sweeps Mt. Aloysius in AMCC Games of the Week

CRESSON, Pa. - La Roche baseball swept Mt. Aloysius College on the road in the AMCC Games of the Week Monday afternoon. The Redhawks defeated the Mounties 5-2 in game one and 19-3 in game two. Both teams were 10-0 in conference play heading into today's doubleheader. LRU baseball is now 12-0 overall and in conference play and sit alone atop the AMCC standings. La Roche has outscored their opponents 122-22 this season.

Game One - La Roche 5, Mt. Aloysius 2

Pitching

Jake Seymour pitched his fourth complete game of the season in game one and improved to 4-0. In 7.0 innings pitched, Seymour struck-out a career-high 11 batters, walked one, allowed three hits and gave up his first two earned runs of the season. Through 27.0 innings pitched this season, Seymour posts an AMCC best 0.66 ERA.

How it Happened

Jason Swope got the Redhawks on the board in the top of the third with an RBI single to score Nathan Stutz. Ryan Lynn would then score on a throwing error by the second basemen to put La Roche up 2-0.

The Mounties would answer quickly in the bottom of the third with a sacrifice fly and an RBI groundout to even the score at two runs a piece.

Philip Pieto put the good guys back on top in the top of the fourth with a solo-blast to center field. Pieto's first home-run of the year put LRU back up 3-2.

The Redhawks would add two more runs in the top of the fifth on an RBI double by Jay Novak and an RBI single from Tristan Tinney.

Inside the Box Score

Ryan Lynn, Jason Swope and Jay Novak all had a double and scored a run.

Austin Hoffman went 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to seven games.

The Redhawks out-hit the Mounties 11-3. As a unit, LRU batted 11-31 (.355) and MAC batted 3-22 (.136).

Defensively, La Roche had their seventh game of the season without and error.

Game Two - La Roche 19, Mt. Aloysius 3

The Redhawks bats got hot in game two as they put up a season-high 19 runs on 24 hits. It's the most runs LRU has ever put up in 17 games against Mt. Aloysius dating back to 2014. It's also the most runs La Roche has scored in a game since April 10th, 2019 when they hung 24 runs against Penn St. Altoona.

LRU recorded an astonishing season-high of 12 extra base hits (eight doubles, two triples, two homeruns). The last time the Redhawks put up that many XBH was on April 26th, 2017. Seven different Redhawks had at least one XBH.

La Roche scored 11 runs through the first four innings and six runs in the eighth.

At the Plate

Ryan Lynn went 4-for-6 with a double, a triple, two RBI and three runs scored. Lynn was a HR away from hitting for the cycle.

Jason Swope went 3-for-4 with a homerun, a double, three RBI and a team-high four runs scored.

Dylan Urban went 5-for-6 with three doubles, one RBI and two runs scored. Urban's five hits and three doubles are both career-highs.

Nathan Stutz went 2-for-5 with three RBI and knocked his first collegiate career homerun on a two-run blast to left center.

Jay Novak went 3-for-6 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored.

Mason Brooks went 3-for-6 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

Philip Pieto knocked a two-run double and finished with three RBI.

Ben Dottle hit his first collegiate triple, scored a run and stole a base. Dottle is tied for first on the team with four stolen bases.

Austin Hoffman went 2-for-6 and extended his hitting streak to eight games.

Pitching

Tristan Tinney picked up his third win of the season in game two. In 7.0 innings pitched, Tinney had seven strikeouts, two walks and two earned runs.

Dante DeLillo pitched 1.0 innings and notched two K's. Michael Rapneth pitched the final inning, he notched a K and didn't allow a hit.
