La Roche Hosts Mt. Aloysius in AMCC Games of the Week

The La Roche University softball team will play their second set of AMCC Games of the Week this season on Wednesday, April 28th when they host Mt. Aloysius College. Game one is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.

La Roche News and Notes

  • The Redhawks are currently 6-8 overall and 6-6 in conference play. They sit tied for the fourth spot in the AMCC standings with Pitt Greensburg, who is also 6-6 in conference play.
  • Last weekend, LRU split two doubleheaders with Alfred State and Hilbert College.
  • Freshman Ashtin Hoover leads the Redhawks and ranks third in the AMCC with a .489 batting average. Hoover has had at least one hit in 13 of 14 games this season.
  • In conference play, senior Devan Smith ranks tied for first in the AMCC with 20 RBI. Smith has batted .468 in conference play which ranks 6th in the AMCC. Smith has notched at least one RBI in six straight games and has had multiple hits four of her last five games. Smith is tied for first on the team with eight extra base hits (five doubles, two triples, one home-run).
  • Senior pitcher Alexa Young is 4-4 on the year and has won her last two starts. Her 37 strikeouts on the season rank second in the conference and her 3.09 ERA ranks fifth. She has only given up two earned runs in her last 15 innings pitched and she tied her season-high with 8 K's in a win over Hilbert on Sunday (4/25).
  • Kelly Denk is tied for first on the team with eight extra base hits (four doubles, four triples). Her four 3B are tied for first in the conference. Denk is batting .396 and has nine RBI, both rank fourth on team.
  • Last weeked, Haynes batted 8-14 at the plate to bring her batting average up to .400 (third on team). In only nine games she has nine RBI (tied for fourth on team).
  • Brandi Clyde and Alexis Myers are tied second on the team with 13 RBI a piece. Clyde is batting .302 and Myers is batting .356.
  • As a unit, LRU is batting .330 in AMCC action which ranks third among conference teams. Their 85 runs scored in AMCC action rank second.

Mt. Aloysius News and Notes

  • The Mounties are in third place with a 6-4 conference mark.
  • Mount Aloysius is most recently coming off of a split with conference foe Medaille College.
  • They are led offensively by freshman utility player Kayla Diel, who has a .426 batting average.
  • Junior infielder Abby Reitz carries a .342 batting average and has two home runs on the year.
  • In the circle, freshman Madison Hillard ranks third in the conference with a 2.07 ERA and Lexi Wilt is fifth with a 3.10. Hillard and Wilt have both recorded four wins this season, while Wilt has fanned 23 batters and Hillard 19.
