Baseball Sweeps Bradford on Senior Day

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The La Roche baseball team swept Pitt Bradford Saturday afternoon at home to improve to 15-1 on the season. The Redhawks outscored the Panthers 24-0 in the doubleheader. LRU defeated UPB 14-0 in game one and 10-0 in game two to pick up their third and fourth shutouts of the season. LRU allowed just four hits between both games. At the plate, Pitt Bradford went 4-52 (.077) in the doubleheader while La Roche went 28-67 (.418).

Already having clinched the AMCC Regular Season Title, the Redhawks will await the results of the 8/9 play in game to see who they will face in first round of the conference postseason tournament. Round one will kick-off next Saturday, May 8th.

Game One - La Roche 14, Pitt Bradford 0

Jake Seymour got his fifth win and pitched his fourth complete game of the season. In 7.0 innings, Seymour had seven strikeouts, a walk, three hits and no earned runs. Seymour has an AMCC best 0.52 ERA through 34.0 innings.

The Redhawks scored multiple runs in four of the six innings they batted, led by a six run second inning. LRU went 14-30 (.467) at the plate as a unit and notched four extra-base hits (double, two triples, homerun) and 13 RBI. They drew eight walks and struckout just twice as a team.

Jay Novak went 2-for-5, had three RBI and scored two runs. Jay hit a two-run homer over the tall left field fence in the bottom of the third and hit an RBI triple to right center in the bottom of the fifth.

Dylan Urban went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored. Urban was just a homerun away from the cycle.

Ryan Lynn went 3-for-4 with two RBI and scored two runs.

Philip Pieto went 2-for-2 with two RBI and scored two runs.

Austin Hoffman went 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.

Tristan Tinney went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base.

Game Two - La Roche 10, Pitt Bradford 0

Tristan Tinney improved to 4-0 on the mound this season after game two's victory. In 6.0 innings pitched, he had seven strikeouts, three walks, no earned runs and allowed just one hit. Jackson Rogers came in to pitch the seventh, he notched a strikeout and didn't allow a hit. The Redhawks closer Mike Nuzzo pitched the last two innnings and struckout three without giving up a hit.

At the plate, four different Redhawks had two RBI. As a unit, the white and red batted 14-37 (.378).

Philip Pieto went 4-for-5 with two RBI, a double and two runs scored. Pieto's four hits in game two were a career-high.

Jason Swope went 2-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored. Swope went yard for the third time this season with a solo-shot over the right field fence in the bottom of the fourth.

Jay Novak went 3-for-4 with two RBI, a triple and scored two runs. Novak brought his batting average back over .400 today.

Dylan Urban went 2-for-4 with an RBI-double. Urban has notched five doubles in his last five games.

The Redhawks will host either the 8 or 9 seed next Saturday, May 8th in the opening round of the AMCC Tournament. The teams will play a best of three series.
