NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. - Tuesday morning, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference released the 2021 women's soccer pre-season coaches' poll. La Roche was predicted to finish 5th in the conference standings. League coaches expect Penn State Behrend to finish at the top of the conference and have the 2019 AMCC champion, Pitt Greensburg, coming in second.

Under head coach Miguel Lozano, who enters his 23rd season at the helm of the women's soccer program, the Redhawks were predicted to make the AMCC playoffs this season. LRU has missed the AMCC playoffs each of the last two seasons. After the 2020 fall season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Redhawks are more eager than ever to return to a regular season.

Listed as AMCC "Players to Watch" in the pre-season coaches' poll were senior forward Alondra Gonzalez (Beaver Falls, PA/Blackhawk) and senior defender Darcie Dominowski. Gonzalez made the AMCC All-Conference third team in 2018. She has recorded eight career goals, five career assists and 21 career points in 32 games played. Dominowski has played in 24 career games and has made eight starts as a defender. She will lead the Redhawks defense in 2021. Both Gonzalez and Dominowski will serve as the teams captains this season.

LRU women's soccer plays their season and home opener next Wednesday, September 1st at 5:00 p.m. in a non-conference contest against Geneva College.
