Redhawks Celebrate Seven Seniors And Cruise Past Hilbert 13-4

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's lacrosse celebrated seven seniors in its home finale against Hilbert, as the red and black went on to take down the Hawks, 13-4.

It was all Redhawks in the first quarter, storming ahead to take a 7-0 lead.

At 11:02, La Roche found the back of the net to open the scoring as Tea Smith netted the goal, assisted by Isabella Fittipaldo.

It took all of 23 seconds for the score to move to 2-0 as Jasey Reiser found the back of the net unassisted.

With 7:11 to go, Jade Fuccaro's unassisted goal made it 3-0, then two goals in 18 seconds at 4:36 and 4:18 made it 5-0 as Fittipaldo scored on an assist by Reiser, then Fuccaro netted her second of the game, assisted by Fittipaldo.

At 3:16 to go, Kinsey Sperling scored unassisted as the score moved to 6-0, and Brooklyn Wongg closed the first quarter scoring with 2:34 left, also unassisted.

The Redhawks moved the score to 9-0 on a pair of goals by Fuccaro at 14:05 and 10:50, both assisted by Alex Mecchia, then 13 seconds after the pair connected for the second time, Smith netted her second of the game to make it 10-0.

Hilbert's first goal came with 7:13 to go in the first half, but La Roche would add one more at 4:21 as Smith scored her third and Fittipaldo picked up her third assist to make it 11-1 at the half.

Goal scoring was minimal in the second half, as the Redhawks moved the score to 12-1 on Reiser's second of the game with a helper from Smith, then the only other goal came by the Hawks at 6:37 to make it 12-2 going into the fourth.

Hilbert would score two of the three goals in the fourth quarter, as La Roche's lone gone in the 15-minute frame was scored by Reiser on an assist from Mecchia.

The shot total ended well in favor of the Redhawks, 36-7 and shots on goal were 24-6.

Julianna Hornikel made a pair of saves in net, adding five ground balls and a caused turnover to her line.

Victoria Biagetti led La Roche with seven ground balls in the game, while Reiser had a team high four caused turnovers, followed by Biagetti and Nemcek with three.

The Redhawks close the regular season on Tuesday, Apr. 23 when they travel to Hilbert for a rematch. Opening faceoff is set for 3 p.m.
