Hairston Earns D3Hoops.Com All-Region Honors

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - La Roche women's basketball senior forward Machia Hairston earned yet another honor, being named to the D3hoops.com All-Region 7 Third Team, announced by D3hoops.com on Tuesday.

Just two weeks ago, after the conclusion of the AMCC Women's Basketball Championship Tournament, Hairston was lauded as the AMCC Player of the Year, as well as being named First Team All-AMCC.

Hairston was the driving force behind the Redhawks 21-5 overall record, second consecutive perfect AMCC regular season record and La Roche's fourth consecutive trip to the AMCC Tournament Championship game.

Hairston's fantastic final season concluded with an average of 17.1 points per game, placing her seventh in the AMCC, alongside 12.7 rebounds, which was second in the AMCC and ninth nationally. Hairston led the AMCC, not including postseason play, averaging 13 rebounds per contest.

Furthermore, Hairston shot 50.8% from the field, also second in the AMCC, averaged 2.7 assists per game, which lead all AMCC forwards and two steals, tying her for sixth in the conference.

Hairston ended the season with 14 double-doubles and placed herself sixth in the all-time single game NCAA DIII women's basketball record book with a 56 point performance against Wells.

Hairston eclipsed the 1,000 career point mark, ending her career with 1,128, the eighth most in school history, as well as 844 rebounds, only the second player to hit the 800 mark in program history, falling just 14 shy of the school record.
