Hairston Earns Player Of The Year, Gissendanner Coach Of The Year, As Redhawks Rack In AMCC Awards

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. - La Roche University women's basketball piled in AMCC Awards for the 2023-24 season, announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.

The awards kick started with Hairston, the lone senior on the team, taking home AMCC Player of the Year and First Team All-AMCC honors.

Hairston fantastic final season concluded with an average of 17.1 points per game, placing her seventh in the AMCC, alongside 12.7 rebounds, which was second in the AMCC and ninth nationally. Hairston led the AMCC, not including postseason play, averaging 13 rebounds per contest.

Furthermore, Hairston shot 50.8% from the field, also second in the AMCC, 2.7 assists per game, leading all AMCC forwards and two steals, tying her for sixth in the conference.

Hairston ended the season with 14 double-doubles, placed herself sixth in the all-time single game NCAA DIII women's basketball record book with a 56 point performance against Wells, eclipsed the 1,000 career point mark, ending her career with 1,128, the eighth most in school history, as well as 844 rebounds, only the second player to hit the 800 mark in program history, falling just 14 shy of the school record.

Kam Gissendanner

For the second consecutive season and fifth time overall, Gissendanner earned AMCC Coach of the Year honors.

Gissendanner led the Redhawks to their 12th AMCC Regular Season Championship in 13 seasons, including their second consecutive perfect regular season in AMCC play, the third time in her tenure and the first AMCC team history to accomplish the feat of back-to-back perfect AMCC regular seasons.

The Redhawks were on a 47 game AMCC winning streak that included the regular season and postseason, before that came to an end in the AMCC Championship game, however, La Roche will still have a 44 game AMCC regular season winning streak alive, entering the 2024-25 season.

In her 10 seasons at the helm of the Redhawks, Gissendanner has compiled an overall record of 213-58, an astounding AMCC record of 164-12 and her .786 winning percentage is the ninth highest among DII women's basketball coaches with at least 10 years of coaching.

Jazmine Dunn

Dunn earned herself Second Team All-AMCC honors after an incredible all-around season for La Roche.

Dunn ended the season averaging 13.5 points per game (14th AMCC), 4.5 rebounds and 5.8 assists, which led the AMCC by a near two assist per game margin.

Dunn's 3.4 assist/turnover ratio was the best in the AMCC, as well as her 2.8 steals per game, giving her three categories she led in.

She ended the season shooting 41.9% from the field, 34% from behind the arc and 84.4% from the free-throw line. She also earn AMCC All-Tournament Team honors for her play, including a 24 point showing in the AMCC Semifinal against Mt. Aloysius.

Makayla Abram

The 2021-22 AMCC Newcomer of the Year and two-time Second Team All-AMCC honoree, earned her third consecutive Second Team All-AMCC selection behind another strong season.

Abram ended the season with a career best scoring average of 14.6 per game, placing her 10th on the AMCC scoring list, doing so behind a 50.5% shooting percentage, the fourth best in the conference.

Abram's 7.1 rebounds per game placed her second on the team and 10th in the AMCC, while also contributing nearly two assists per game (1.6) and 1.6 steals, placing her in the top 15 of the conference.

Abram in just her junior season eclipsed the 1,000 point mark and entering her season senior in 2024-25, sits 12th on the La Roche all-time scoring list with 1,057.

Alexis Robison

For the first time in her three-year tenure as a Redhawk, Robison saw her name hit the All-AMCC list, earning Third Team honors.

Robison averaged 12.1 points per game behind a field goal percentage of 43.1 percent, on top of being one of the most lethal three-point scorers in the AMCC, shooting 38.5% behind the arc, third best in the league.

Furthermore, Robison chipped in 3.4 rebounds per contest, 1.9 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

In her 20 games played, Robison scored in double figures 14 times, including a 23 point season high against Franciscan to open the 2023-24 season.
