Softball Sweeps Bobcats 2-0

Softball Sweeps Bobcats 2-0

PITTSBURGH, PA- The second game of this afternoon's double header started out the complete opposite than the first.

The Redhawks were the first to get a run on the board with one run.

Katie Gaughan started off the rally with a single to left field. Ashtin Hoover followed suit with a single to third. Kelly Denk then reached first base on a fielder's choice and Gaughan was out at third base. That was okay though, because Alexis Myers came up to the plate and smacked a hit into left field and allowed Hoover to score, and everyone else to advance one base.

In the bottom of the second inning La Roche again went to bat, scoring two runs on three hits. Hoover and Denk were each credited with an RBI each, and the Redhawks started the third inning up 3-0.

The Bobcats got on the board in the third inning. A tough LRU defense was able to hold UPG to one run on three hits.

Pitt-Greensburg's one run only went unanswered for an inning and the Redhawks got back on the board with two runs in the fourth inning.

Ashtin Hoover tripled to left field to start off the inning, and to put herself in scoring position.

Kelly Denk rewarded her for her efforts and singled to the shortstop to allow Hoover to score. Denk also earned herself a spot on first base. Garrah Milochik was credited with the next RBI and the next hit as she sent a double soaring to right field. Denk was able to get across home plate and increase the Redhawks lead to 5-1.

These were the final runs scored of the game, and La Roche was able to sweep the Bobcats.

Emilee Waldrop the right handed hurler went all seven innings on the mound. Waldrop let one run sneak past her on 11 hits.

Stealing the show at the plate was Ashtin Hoover who went three-for-four at bats. Hoover totaled three hits, three runs, and one RBI.

Getting two hits off each was Kelly Denk, Macy Vignolini, and Alexis Myers

Following suit was Garrah Milochik and Katie Gaughan who were each credited with a hit.

Denk led RBIs with two in today's contest.

The Redhawks are back in action tomorrow with an away matchup against the Pitt-Bradford Panthers.
