Redhawks Drop Road Contest to Waynesburg

WAYNESBURG, Pa. - La Roche University men's soccer team lost their second game of this season to Waynesburg University in a non-conference match, 8-2. 

The Yellow Jackets overwhelmed the Redhawks, with a total of 46 shots to La Roche's 9. There were 5 different Yellow Jacket players who scored, several scoring goals twice. Waynesburg scored 6 of their goals in the first half and two in the second.

La Roche didn't go down without a fight, spear headed by Junior Jake Gorman (Ambridge, PA/Ambridge). Gorman scored both of La Roche's goals, and scored the first goal of the game just after the 2 minute mark in the first period with assists from Casey Hulbert (#12) and Tanner Cook (#3), and scored the other goal by himself during the middle of the second period. These are La Roche's first and second goals of this season.

Freshman goalkeeper Benedict Mattingly (Pittsburgh, PA/Taylor Allderdice) got the start once again in net. Benny played all 45 minutes of the first half, he allowed six goals and made four saves. Senior goalkeeper Denali Nicholas came in for the second half and played the whole 45 minutes. He notched five saves and allowed two goals.

NEXT UP: The Redhawks will have their third game at Franciscan, playing this Friday, September 10th at 1 PM.
