Trio Of Redhawks Earn All-AMCC Men's Basketball Honors

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. - Three La Roche men's basketball players saw their names mentioned by the AMCC on Tuesday, as the conference announced their awards for the 2023-24 season.

For the first time in his three-year career as a Redhawk, Starzynski earned All-AMCC laurels, being named to the conference's First Team.

Starzynski entered the 2023-24 season as a player to watch for La Roche and lived up to the billing.

Starzynski averaged a team high 14 points per game, including scoring in double figures nine of the last 10 games and 21 of 27 games overall, with his season high sitting at 26 points.

Beyond scoring, Starzynski was a catalyst all over the floor, securing six rebounds per game (15th AMCC), 1.9 asssits, 1.3 steals (14th AMCC) and 1.2 blocks (6th AMCC).

Starzynski put together arguably his best stat line in the AMCC Semifinal against Pitt-Greensburg, where he scored 24 points to go alongside nine rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block.

He was also once named AMCC Player of the Week, earning that honor the final week of the season.

Bryce Epps

After a star career at South Allegheny High School, Epps wasted no time making his prescense known not only at La Roche, but in the AMCC, as the freshman earned Third Team All-AMCC honors, one of only two freshmen to make any of the three All-AMCC teams and the first freshman at La Roche to do so since Kadyn Hannah in 2021-22.

Epps finished the year as the second leading scorer on the team, averaging 12.6 points per game, alongside 3.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals (14th AMCC), while also finishing third in the AMCC in 3PT percentage at 41.3%.

Epps started from the opening tip of the season for the Redhawks, netting 11 points in his first collegiate contest and hit for double figures a total of 18 times during the season, including nine of the last 11 games.

Epps' season high came against Pitt-Bradford, a game in which he poured in 25 points behind a 7-for-10 showing behind the arc.

Michael Brooks

Another first time award honoree for the La Roche, Brooks joined his teammate Epps on the All-AMCC Third Team.

Brooks finished the season third on the Redhawks, averaging 11.4 points per game for the well-balanced La Roche attack.

Brooks shot 41.2% from the field and 41% from behind the arc, placing him fourth on the AMCC's 3PT shooting percentage list.

Brooks was also one of the team's leading rebounders, securing 5.1 per contest, alongside a team high 3.1 assists.

Brooks would go on to score in double figures 17 times in the 2023-24 season and hit for a season high 22 points against Mt. Aloysius, a game in which he shot 60% from the field and 75% from behind the arc.
