Redhawks Tussle with Mavericks for Two-Point Win

Pittsburgh, PA - In tonight's match up, the Redhawks (5-7, 3-2) went to Medaille (4-8, 1-3) for a tough conference matchup. It's been almost two years since these teams have faced off against each other, and the showdown did not disappoint. 

In the final 20 seconds, both teams were tied 71-71. It was a battle at the end to see who was going to be adding another win to their record. 

In those final 20 seconds, Devon Darrell of La Roche took the ball all the way to the hoop in the Redhawks' final possession; securing the win 73-71. 

In tonight's contest LRU shot 52% from field goal range, and netted 50% from the three point area. 

La Roche also put up 34 points in the paint, and earned 14 points from fast breaks. The team as a total rebounded 36 loose balls. 

Isaiah Thomas commanded the offensive and led the Redhawks with 15 points. Thomas went 2-2 at the three point line and shot 71% from field goal range. 

Michael Brooks was directly behind Thomas with 14 points himself. The freshman since he has started has proven to be more and more of a threat on the court. 

The game winning-scorer game next; Devon Darrell netted a total 13 points and led the rebounding charge with eight. 

The Redhawks look to add another win in conference play on Wednesday against Mount Aloysius at home. Tip off is at 7:30 PM.
