That's a Wrap: Baseball; Three Redhawks are All-Conference Honorees

PITTSBURGH, PA - The baseball team of La Roche University had a great ride. They closed out their season this weekend, placing fourth in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship tournament.

Head coach Adam Dukate finished his first season at the helm of the Redhawks with a record of 15-20. The team recorded 199 runs on 296 hits, and 183 runs batted in. They also stole 40 bases.

La Roche took 1,086 at bats and struck out 252 times while at the plate.

Leading the team in hits was Kyle Weitzel. Weitzel recorded 40 hits this season with a slugging average of .577; he also recorded 13 RBIs. In the field he was just as impressive with a fielding average of .938 percent. The junior made his first appearance this season in all-conference honors after being voted to the second team as an outfielder.

Nathan Stutz was just as monumental at the plate this year, both with a bat, and with catcher's gear.

Stutz led the team in home runs with six. He also recorded 36 runs batted in on 34 hits. His fielding percentage came out to be .969 percent with 163 total chances. Stutz is no stranger to all conference nominations as he was voted to the first team during the 2020-21 season. This year he's been voted to the all conference second team as a catcher.

Jackson Rogers, the right handed hurler received his first AMCC recognition and was named to the third team as a pitcher. Rightfully so as he led the Redhawks with 67 innings pitched. Rogers had the lowest ERA with 4.52 and recorded 59 strikeouts this season. There was no better way to hang up his hat as his senior season drew to a close. Rogers was also named AMCC Pitcher of the week after throwing his season's first shutout.

Justin Stancovich had an impressive senior season as well. The first baseman had the most chances in the field with 232. He finished the season with a .983 fielding percentage. He also hit the second most home runs (tied with Anthony Cioffi) with five.

Tyler Simpson and Mason Brooks each recorded perfect fielding percentages of 1.00. Simpson had 54 total chances, while Brooks had 43.

Having the second most hits of the season was senior, Ryan Lynn. Lynn recorded 36 hits and 20 runs batted in.
