ERIE, Pa. – La Roche volleyball concluded regular season play on Saturday afternoon at Penn State Behrend, but fell to the Lions 3-1.
It was a game that only played a factor in potential seeding for the Redhawks, as they had already clinched a spot in the AMCC Tournament.
Set one went in favor of the Redhawks, coming out on top 25-23.
La Roche saw itself lead early, 5-4, but quickly things looked bleak for a time being, as the red and blacks lead went away and saw themselves trailing 22-14 in the later stage of the set.
However, the Redhawks dominated despite the deficit, outscoring Behrend 11-1 the rest of the way to steal the opening set.
The Lions took exception to the set one loss, jumping ahead 17-7 in set two.
Once again, La Roche crawled back in, utilizing a 10-2 run to trail just 19-17, but Behrend halted things there, scoring six of the set's final seven points to win 25-18.
Set three was very even throughout, with both teams trading the lead a few time and neither team holding a margin greater than four.
Unfortunately for the red and black, the Lions took a 2-1 match lead, coming out on top 25-21.
The fourth and final set saw the Redhawks coasting early, leading 14-7, but Behrend responded with a 10-2 run to gain the lead.
It wasn't until La Roche made it a 21-20 game when it took the lead again, but the Lions would hold off the red and black to win 25-23.
