Redhawks Fall To Cougars

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche volleyball welcomed Chatham on Friday night for non-conference action, but in the end it was the Cougars getting the best of the Redhawks, 3-0.

The first set saw Chatham charge ahead, opening a 12-4 lead through the set's first 16 points.

Despite an effort to fight back, La Roche couldn't come any closer than five points at any point, falling 25-17.

The second set saw the Redhawks down 5-3 early, but would take the lead at 6-5 shortly after.

The red and black held the lead into the later stages at 18-16, but a 9-3 run by the Cougars closed the set at 25-21.

The third set was tough for La Roche, falling behind quickly, 9-1.

Behind a few points later, 11-2, the Redhawks made their best push, scoring eight of the next nine to trim the deficit to 12-10.

Chatham would lock in from there, taking 13 of the final 19 points for a 25-16 set win and the match victory.

Freshman Kylie Fehlman led the offense for La Roche with seven kills, followed by junior Kallie Grine with four.

In the assist box, freshman Brooke Bednarski led the team with 11.
