Women's Volleyball Defeats D'Youville 3-1 on Senior Day

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The La Roche women's volleyball team will be making their 6th straight AMCC postseason appearance after defeating D'Youville College in a must win match this afternoon three sets to one. LRUVB also needed Mt. Aloysius to defeat Medaille in order to make the postseason; the Mounties trounced over the Mavericks  in a 3-0 sweep. The Redhawks celebrated their seniors at the Baierl Sports Complex prior to today's match. Fittingly, the 2020 graduation class was the driving offensive force against the Spartans. Five seniors (Haley Ebersole, Janet Aland, Bailey McDonald, Christine Aland, & Reilee Bradford) combined for 24 of La Roche's 38 kills in the match. The 2020 class now owns 23-14 record in AMCC action in their tenure's with La Roche Volleyball.

LEADING THE ATTACK: Freshman outside hitter Mackenzie Jeric led the Redhawks with 8 kills in the match on a .172 hitting percentage. Five other Redhawks recorded at least 5 kills (Haley Ebersole: 6, Ingrid Spear: 5, Janet Aland: 5, Bailey McDonald: 6 & Christine Aland: 5). 

SET EM' UP: Senior captain and lead setter Bailey McDonald led La Roche with 18 assists in the match. McDonald finishes the 2019 regular season with 479 assists (6th in AMCC). She also hit 5 kills on an extremely efficient .417 hitting percentage. 

BACK ROW PLAY: Senior libero/defensive specialist Erin Connor led the team with 19 digs. Connor finishes the 2019 regular season with 387 digs (5th in AMCC). Jeric also hit double-digit figures with 14 digs; she was only two kills shy of a double-double. 

AT THE NET: Junior middle hitter Ingrid Spear had 5 solo blocks in the match and Senior middle hitter Janet Aland finished with 3 solo and 2 assisted blocks. Spear has recorded 54 solo-blocks this season (2nd in DIII). The mark is 23 more than the next highest player in the AMCC.

ACES HIGH: The Redhawks tied their season-high with 17 service aces (compared to D'Youville's 5). Mackenzie Jeric led with six, tying her single-game high for the third time this season (9/6 vs. Clarks Summit & 10/2 vs. Mt. Aloysius). Jeric finished with a game-high 14 points.

NEXT UP: #6 La Roche will face #3 Pitt.-Bradford in the first round of the AMCC tournament next Wednesday, November 6th at 7:00 p.m. Pitt Bradford is set to host.
