Volleyball Tops D'Youville, Will Host AMCC Tournament Quarterfinal Match on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY -- The La Roche College women's volleyball team clinched an AMCC Quarterfinal home match after defeating D'Youville 3-1 (28-26, 25-14, 24-26, 25-20) on Saturday afternoon. The Redhawks picked up their seventh conference victory for just the second time in school history. La Roche will host Penn State Altoona on Wednesday in a tournament elimination match.

Laura Nath finished with 16 kills and 21 digs. Hannah Scott had a match-high 33 digs and 4 serving aces. Sarah Storino had 22 assists.

The Redhawks finished with 15 blocks. Janet Aland had 5 blocks while Kayla Gramm and Ingrid Spear each had 3 blocks.

La Roche won a thrilling first set 28-26. Teams traded points from 21-21 until Gramm threw down a Bailey McDonald pass for a set clinching twenty-eighth point. McDonald and Storino each provided a kill over the final stretch.

A Hannah Scott service ace helped the Redhawks stretch a 2-1 deficit into a 7-2 lead. The Spartans responded and tied the set at 11-11. Storino and Bethany Nulph came to serve and La Roche ran off 8 of the next 9 points. Both Storino and Nulph provided aces.

The Redhawks closed the second set scoring 5 of the final 6 points. Reilee Bradford ended it with an ace.

La Roche looked in control in the third set, holding a 22-12 lead. D'Youville closed the gap with twelve straight points. The Redhawks had match point at 24-21, but the Spartans scored five straight to take set three 26-24.

Nath took control in set four, throwing down six kills and an ace. She closed the match with a kill and a 25-20 victory.
