Redhawks Volleyball Drops Heartbreaker at Thiel

GREENVILLE, PA -- The La Roche College women's volleyball team dropped a heartbreaker, falling in 5 sets at Thiel (15-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-17, 15-8). Thiel overcame a 2-1 match deficit to earn the victory.

Laura Nath finished with 16 kills and Christine Aland reached double figures with 11 kills. Sarah Storino and Bailey McDonald combined to set up 49 of 53 kills. Hannah Scott, Laura Nath, and Erin Connor paced the defense with at least 20 digs apiece. The Redhawks had 8 serving aces, including 3 by Storino.

La Roche ended set 1 on a 10-1 run to stretch a 15-14 lead to a 25-15 game 1 victory. Storino contributed two aces over the course of the run and Christine Aland slammed down a Storino assist for the win. 

Thiel flipped the script in set 2, taking a 21-19 defict to a 25-22 game 2 victory. The Redhawks responded, narrowly espacing with a 25-23 set 3 win. Reilee Bradford took control down the stretch, providing a game-point kill and the winning kill. 

Thiel opened set 4 with six straight points and La Roche was unable to rebound. The Bobcats went on to take the deciding fifth set and earn the victory. 

The Redhawks open AMCC Conference play with a trimatch on Saturday at Pitt-Bradford. La Roche will also play Hilbert.
