Sweep Makes Clark Summit Trip Well Worth It

CLARKS SUMMIT, PA -- The La Roche College women's volleyball team made the five hour trip east well worth it, returning with a 3-0 sweep over Clarks Summit (25-18, 25-15, 25-19).

The Redhawks never trailed, breaking 5-5 ties in all three sets and running away with the match.

Sarah Storino sparked the set 1 run with two straight aces. La Roche made the veteran move of making Clarks Summit pay for multiple attack and set errors to run a 15-11 lead to 24-12 game point. Laura Nath and Janet Aland threw down kills over the course of the run. Clarks Summit strung together six straight points at game point, but it was too little too late as Nath ended it with a kill. 

The Redhawks stretched a 10-6 lead to 19-7 lead in set 2. Nath started the run with a kill and Ingrid Spear provided a spike to extend the lead to twelve. Aland continued to be a force at the net, providing a block and forcing Clarks Summit into making errors. Nath made it game point with a kill and Christine Aland slammed down a Storino set to win the game 2.

Bethany Nulph opened set 3 with an ace. Clarks Summit hung around, but La Roche went on a 7-1 run for a commanding 19-12 lead. Nath led the way with three kills. 

Clarks Summit made their way back to a three point deficit, but the Redhawks closed the set and the match.

Nath finished with 13 kills and Storino 13 assists. Janet Aland finished with 5 blocks. Scott and Storino each had two serving aces.
