La Roche Volleyball Splits Trimatch, Beats Waynesburg, Falls to Baldwin Wallace

Match 1: The Redhawks cruised in the early match and to their second victory of the season. La Roche trailed just once in their 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 25-7) sweep of Waynesburg.

The Redhawks jumped out to a 6-0 lead in set 1 and never looked back. Sarah Storino provided a pair of serving aces and La Roche upped the pressure at the net. Waynesburg was able to get through the rotation, but the Redhawks scored the final ten points while Storino was serving.

The Yellow Jackets climbed to a 7-3 lead in set 2, but the Redhawks rattled off ten straight points to take control. Four straight came off Waynesburg mistakes, but Laura Nath also contributed three kills. Bethany Nulph dominated the second set with her serving.

Set #3 was never in doubt as La Roche cruised 25-7. Nath ended the match, throwing down a Storino assist.

The Laura Nath and Bethany Nulph duo was excellent. Nath finished with 10 kills while Nulph had 7 kills and committed no errors. Nath also contributed on the defensive end with a match-high 15 digs. Hannah Scott finished with 11 digs. The Redhawks dominated the net with Ingrid Spear and Christine Aland combing for 11 blocks. Sarah Storino had a match-best 24 assists.

Match 2: La Roche hung tough early in set #1. They trailed 2-0 but, Nath and Janet Aland led a charge where they scored 7 of the next 8 points. 

Coach Bajuszik burned a timeout trailing 13-11, and the Redhawks rallied off six straight points. Baldwin Wallace again tied it at 18-18, forcing La Roche into a timeout. The Redhawks opened things up and held game point at 24-21, but Waynesburg came back to win 26-24.

The Yellow Jackets opened set #2 with five straight points. Hannah Scott came to serve and got La Roche within two. Baldwin Wallace recovered and went on to take the set 25-14.

The Redhawks kept it close until the midway point of the third set. Bethany Nulph made things interesting with two straight serving aces, but Baldwin Wallace hung on.

Nath had a match-high 17 kills.
