Volleyball Ranked Third in AMCC Preseason Poll, Nath is Preseason Player of the Year

The La Roche College women's volleyball team has it's sights on an AMCC Championship in 2018. The Redhawks have made steady progress under Coach Nicole Bajuszik's leadership, and last season earned the program's first-ever AMCC Runner-Up trophy.

The AMCC Coaches expect a solid season from the Redhawks and voted La Roche third in this year's Preseason Poll. 2017 AMCC Champion Penn State Altoona and 2016 AMCC Champion Pitt-Bradford were predicted to win the conference championship.

A majority of last season's squad returns. Lauran Nath is the 2018 AMCC Preseason Player of the Year and Hannah Scott is a Preseason Player to Watch.

Nath was an AMCC first team all-conference selection for the second straight year after receiving a nod to the second team her freshman season. As a junior, Nath led the AMCC in kills and kills per set for the second consecutive season. She ranked ninth in the nation in kills during her sophomore season and her 438 kills were the ninth most in AMCC history. She is also one of a handful of Redhawks to reach 1000 career kills

Scott is a two-time AMCC all-conference first teamer and led the AMCC in digs and digs per set the past two seasons. She ranked sixth in the nation in digs in 2017 and her 684 digs in 2017 was the fifth-most in AMCC history. Scott was also the 2016 AMCC Newcomer of the Year.

The Redhawk offense will run through setter and four-year starter Sarah Storino. Janet Aland, Christine Aland, and Haley Ebersole combine to make one of the better front lines in the AMCC Conference.

La Roche kicks off their season on Friday-Saturday by hosting their annual tournament. On October 10, they will travel to Penn State Altoona for a 2017 AMCC Championship rematch. Senior Day is October 18 against Pitt-Greensburg.
