PITTSBURGH, PA -- The La Roche women's volleyball team defended their home court on Senior Day, sweeping Medaille 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-19) on Saturday afternoon. The Redhawks clinched the fourth seed in the upcoming AMCC Tournament and will host D'Youville College on Wednesday at 7PM. It is La Roche's fourth straight tournament appearance and second time hosting a quarterfinal match.

Laura Nath finished with 10 kills and now sits at 978 for her career. Toni Torchia registered 7 kills and 13 digs while Hannah Scott had 3 serving aces and 17 digs. Sarah Storino and Maddie Gestrich combined for 27 assists.

The Redhawks did not run away in the first set but took advantage of Medaille mistakes to climb ahead late. La Roche held a narrow 16-13 lead but the Mavericks scored three straight to tie it at 16-16. Neither team led by more than two points until Janet Aland ended the set with a spike and a 25-22 victory.

La Roche and Medaille were even at 9-9 in the second set but the Redhawks ended up cruising to a 25-16 win. La Roche took advantage of more Medaille struggles at the net and Scott provided two straight serving aces.

The Redhawks trailed early in the third set but two straight aces by Erin Connor tied it up. La Roche ended up scoring six straight points on Conner serves to take a three point lead. Scott gave the Redhawks their largest lead of the set with an ace and Torchia ended it with a kill and a senior day victory.

The Redhawks advance to the AMCC Tournament Quarterfinal and will host D'Youville on Wednesday at 7pm.
