
WAYNESBURG, Pa. - La Roche women's tennis traveled to Waynesburg on Sunday afternoon, but were unable to get past the Yellow Jackets, falling 6-1.
The Redhawks opened the day with a strong showing in #1 doubles, winning 6-2 behind Teresa Munoz Torrado and Finley Hohn. In #2 doubles, Klover Haberthier and Madison Dalverny battled in defeat tough, falling 6-3.
In singles action, #1 Torrado came through with the victory in a three set thriller. After falling in the opening set, 6-4, Torrado responded with a strong 6-3 victory to force a tiebreak set. In a back-and-forth battle, Torrado pulled through, winning 11-9 in a thriller.
The remaining four singles matches went the way of Waynesburg, winning #3 and #4 singles by finals of 6-0, 6-1 and then #2 and #5 singles at 6-0, 6-0.
La Roche returns to the courts on Thursday, Sept. 26 when it hosts Penn State Altoona in AMCC action. Opening serve is set for 7 p.m.
