WAYNESBURG, Pa. – La Roche women's tennis traveled to Waynesburg University on Thursday, unfortunately falling to the Yellow Jackets 7-2.
In doubles play, the Redhawks fell by scores of 8-2 in #2 doubles and 8-0 in #3 doubles, but picked up a huge win in a back and forth match as Emily Lyon and Teresa Munoz Torrado took the #1 doubles match, 8-7.
In singles play, Waynesburg took five of six matchups, as Torrado again took a victory in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3 in #1 singles, while in #5 singles, Jade Fuccaro took the opening set 6-4, but unfortunately fell in three sets.
La Roche has a quick turnaround as it competes in matches both Saturday and Sunday. Pitt-Greensburg is the first up as conference play starts. The home match is set for 3 p.m. at the Alpha Tennis & Fitness Center in Harmarville.
