Mt. Aloysius Tops Women's Tennis 6-3

EBENSBURG, Pa. - The women's tennis team competed in their 5th conference game of the season this afternoon at Ebensburg Tennis Center against the Mt. Aloysius Mounties. The Redhawks were defeated 6-3 to fall to 2-5 on the season (1-4 in conference play). The Mounties are now winners of their last seven matches. La Roche women's tennis has seen plenty of action as of late, today marks their second match this weekend and 5th in the last 11 days. Juniors Jazmyn Davis and Alexandra Mroczkowski continued their stellar weekend winning all three of the Redhawks matches in their individual single's performances and as doubles partners. It is the first time all season Davis and Mroczkowski have won back-to-back matches individually and as a duo.

Results: 

  • First Singles: Senior Rochelle Selzer was defeated in two sets this afternoon 6-1, 7-6. She is now 3-3 at first singles and 4-3 in total singles matches this season.
  • Second Singles: Freshman Alexandra Jaksec was defeated in two close sets 6-3, 7-6. Jaksec is 4-2 at second singles and 4-3 in total singles matches this season. 
  • Third Singles: Junior Jazymn Davis has been hot as of late, winning her third individual's match this afternoon in two sets 6-4, 7-5. This season, Davis is 3-0 in sets that  demand 12 or more games. 
  • Fourth Singles: Junior Alexandra Mroczkowski pulled out a close one and defeated her opponent in two sets 6-4, 6-4. It is Allie's 2nd straight win at singles and third in her last four matches. 
  • Fifth & Sixth Singles: Freshman Manyia Still and Junior Alena Matthew were bested in their singles matches 6-0, 6-0 respectively.
  • At first doubles, Selzer and Jaksec lost in 13 games 8-5 but still hold a winning record as a duo on the season (4-3). 
  • At second doubles, Davis and Allie picked up their second straight victory in a close 8-6 match. It is their second straight performance decided by two games. 
  • At third singles, Still and Matthew were defeated in 8 games. 

NEXT UP: The Redhawks continue their conference schedule Tuesday afternoon when they hit the road to take on Penn St. Altoona beginning at 1:00 p.m.
