Women's Soccer Season Concludes In AMCC Tournament First Round

CRESSON, Pa. – La Roche women's soccer had its 2024 season come to a close on Saturday evening, as the fifth seeded Redhawks fell to fourth seeded Mt. Aloysius 3-0.

Neither team was able to hit the scoresheet in the first half, as both the red and black and Mounties ended the first 45 minutes of play with three shots on goal each.

Out of the break, Mt. Aloysius struck for what would be the game-winning goal at 54:08 to open the scoring.

An insurance goal for the Mounties came at 73:21 to move the score to 2-0, then 6:31 later, the final goal of the game was scored.

Junior goalkeeper, Julianna Hornikel, started the game in net, stopping seven of the 10 shots she faced.

On the offensive end, La Roche had five shots in the game with four on goal.

Alexandra Mecchia led the team with two shots, both on goal, while Kiki Nemcek and Chastity Bundy had the other two shots on target.

The 2024 season ends for the Redhawks with a 4-11-2 mark and will now begin preparations for 2025, a roster that will lose six players, but returns both goalkeepers and a lot of experience from a group of freshmen, sophomores and juniors.
