Women’s Soccer Ends Regular Season With Draw Against Hilbert

HAMBURG, N.Y. - La Roche women's soccer closed the 2024 regular season with a 2-2 draw against Hilbert on the road.

The hosts wasted no time jumping in front, scoring just 1:26 into the contest to take the lead.

Just before the half, the Redhawks scored the equalizer, when Kiki Nemcek scored, assisted by Zaida Gonzalez Rosada at 40:10, making the score sit at 1-1 at the break.

La Roche would take some time in the second half, but finally pulled through at the 72:49 mark to take the lead 2-1, this time with Nemcek setting up Alexandra Mecchia.

The lead would last only 1:41 as Hilbert scored the final goal of the game at 74:20 to lead to the 2-2 final.

The red and black dominated the shot chart, outshooting the Hawks 24-6 and 13-3 in shots on goal.

Rosado and Chastity Bundy each took six shots and both had four on goal to lead the way.

The Redhawks have clinched a spot in the AMCC Tournament and will either be the fifth or sixth seed.

Should Penn State Behrend defeat Hilbert, La Roche is the fifth seed based on its head-to-head victory over Alfred State. If Hilbert is to upset Behrend, it will create a three-way tie between the Hawks, Redhawks and Pioneers, giving Hil set the fifth seed due to its win against Behrend and La Roche will be sixth, again by virtue of its win against Alfred State.
