PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's soccer picked up the very important first AMCC victory of the season on Tuesday, thrashing Carlow 5-0.
After a quiet opening 20 minutes of play, the Redhawks found the back of the net to open the scoring at 21:14, when Alexis Nudds connected with Kiki Nemcek for the 1-0 lead.
Just 10:03 later, Grace Motuk added to the lead, scoring unassisted to take a 2-0 edge into halftime.
Out of the break, it was all La Roche in the later stages after a stalemate for the first 27 minutes.
Three goals found the back of the net for the red and black in a 9:19 span, including Motuk's second unassisted goal of the game at 72:28, Nudds scoring off an assist by Chastity Bundy at 80:40, then the final goal of the game at 81:47 as Bundy's second assist set up Nuria Zulueta Seguro.
Junior goalkeeper, Julianna Hornikel, started the game in net, stopping both shots she faced.
Freshman keeper, Danielle Dominick, played the second half, stopping the lone shot she faced.
On the offensive end, La Roche had 17 shots in the game with seven on goal. Motuk and Alexandra Mecchia both had four shots in the game, with Motuk's two shots on goal leading the way.
The Redhawks return to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 as they welcome Alfred State for a 3 p.m. kickoff on Senior Day.
