
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's soccer hosted Mt. Aloysius in AMCC play on Wednesday and after an eight-day layoff, the Redhawks battled to the end, drawing 2-2.
The lone goal of the first half lit up the scoreboard for La Roche, as Grace Motuk found Alexandra Mecchia at 25:39 to take the 1-0 lead, one the red and black would hold going into halftime.
Out of the break, the Mounties wasted no time evening the score, netting a goal just 5:46 into the second half to tie the game 1-1.
At 62:54, the tides turned in favor of Mt. Aloysius, scoring the leading goal to make it 2-1.
With just 3:03 remaining, La Roche pulled through to tie the game as Zaida Gonzalez Rosado scored off an assist from Jenna Hotovek.
Junior goalkeeper, Julianna Hornikel, started the game in net, stopping both shots she faced.
Freshman keeper, Danielle Dominick, played the second half, stopping four of six shots she faced.
On the offensive end, La Roche had 13 shots in the game with eight on goal. Gonzalez Rosado led the way with seven shots, four of which were on the frame.
The Redhawks return to action on Saturday, Oct. 12 as they travel to Pitt-Bradford for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
