ALTOONA, Pa. - An early goal proved to be enough to hold off La Roche women's soccer on Tuesday evening, as the Redhawks fell to Penn State Altoona 1-0.
The lone goal of the night came just 2:53 into the match and stood pat the remaining 87:07 of the contest.
La Roche finished the night with eight shots in the game, with Zaida Gonzalez Rosado and Alexis Nudds leading the way with three each.
Three shots went on target for the red and black, with three different players having one.
Julianna Hornikel started in net, stopping three of four shots she faced in 45 minutes of action. Danielle Dominick played the second half and stopped both shots that came her way.
The Redhawks have eight days until they return to the pitch, when they welcome Mt. Allyson's on Oct. 9. Opening kick is set for 4 p.m.
