PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's soccer welcomed Bethany on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup, but in the end it was the Bison who came out victorious, 1-0.
The lone goal of the game came just 3:49 after the opening kick, when a Bethany corner kick deflected off a Redhawk defender for an own goal.
The Bison led the shot chart at 17-7 and placed 10 on goal, while La Roche had five on the cage.
Junior goalkeeper, Julianna Hornikel, took the loss in net, and saved three of the four shots she faced in 45 minutes of action. Freshman goalkeeper Danielle Dominick played the second half, stopping all six shots that came her way.
On the offensive end, Brittney Schindler led the team with three shots, placing all three on net.
The Redhawks have two more games on the week, with a matchup against St. Vincent set for Thursday, Sept. 19. Opening kick is set for 5 p.m.
