Redhawks Defeat Garrett College 2-1

MCHENRY, Md. - La Roche women's soccer traveled to Garrett College on Saturday afternoon or non-conference action, taking down the host Lakers 2-1, snapping a three-game skid.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the opening 45 minutes of the contest, holding onto the 0-0 tie to start the game as halftime came about.

The Redhawks put together a strong plan out of the break and it took only five minutes for the red and black to take lead.

At the 50:00 mark, Zaida Gonzalez Rosado netted her first goal of the season, unassisted, giving La Roche the edge.

The lead lasted 15 minutes, as Garrett would respond to even the contest a 1-1.

With just 11 minutes remaining, the Redhawks picked up the game-winning goal behind freshman Taylor Ramsdell, then would hold on to take the victory.

On the offensive end, La Roche trailed in the shot total at 20-17, as well as shots on goal, 11-9.

Juianna Hornikel picked up the victory in net, stopping 10 of 11 shots she faced on the day.

The Redhawks have concluded its three-game road trip and now return home for a four-game home stand, beginning Tuesday, Sept. 17 against Bethany. Opening kick is set for 4 p.m.
