Redhawks Drop Road Match To Presidents

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's soccer took to the road Friday night to meet Washington & Jefferson, but a big second half for the Presidents took down the Redhawks, 5-1.

It was a clean first half in which both teams played out the first 45-minutes to a 0-0 draw.

The second half was all W&J, scoring five goals all in an 18:18 span, starting just 1:34 into the second half.

La Roche's lone goal came close to the end of the contest, when junior Zaida Gonzalez Rosado scored at 85:15.

Julianna Hornikel started the game in net and in the first half stopped all four shots that came her way.

Danielle Dominick played the second half in goal, stopping three of eight shots she faced.

Offensively, Kiki Nemcek and Alexandra Mecchia led the team with two shots each, while three players combined for the three shots on goal.

La Roche continues it road trip on Tuesday, Sept. 10, when it travels to Geneva. Opening kick is set for 7 p.m.
