Redhawks Season Concludes In AMCC First Round

CRESSON, Pa. – La Roche women's soccer saw its 2023 season come to an end on Saturday in the AMCC Tournament's First Round, falling to #4 seed Mt. Aloysius 3-1.

 

The #5 seed Redhawks won the regular season matchup over the Mounties, 1-0, but on Saturday it was Mt. Aloysius who jumped ahead at the 21:32 mark of the first half, a lead the Mounties would hold going into halftime.

 

After halftime, La Roche scored the equalizer at 54:43, when freshman Finnleigh Gould scored on an assist from senior Alexis Nudds.

 

After just under 14 minutes of being tied, Mt. Aloysius scored the game winning goal at 68:01, then netted an insurance goal at 75:12 to conclude the scoring and move into the semifinals.

 

Goalkeeper Julianna Hornikel did all she could in net, stopping four of the seven shots she faced.

 

The Redhawks outshot the Mounties 16-10 in the game, but just 9-8 in shots on goal.

 

La Roche put seven shots on the net in the first half, but could only muster two in the second half.

 

Gould led the offense with four shots in the game and three shots on goal. Victoria Biagetti added three shots in the game, and six others added six shots on goal to go alongside Gould's three.
