Redhawks Win Streak Halted By Pioneers

ALFRED, N.Y. – La Roche women's soccer saw its winning streak come to a close on Saturday at the hands of Alfred State, falling 3-1.

 

La Roche's impressive streak of not allowing a goal ended at 521:28 when the Pioneers scored at the 29:21 mark to make it 1-0.

 

The score sat at 2-0 going into halftime as Alfred State netted a goal at 41:04, then picked up its third and final tally of the game just 2:20 into the second half.

 

The lone goal for the Redhawks came at 67:39 when Alexis Nudds scored her sixth of the season with Zaida Gonzalez Rosado picking up the assist.

 

Shots were limited throughout as the Pioneers held a slight 10-9 edge in that department, while La Roche led in shots on goal, 7-5.

 

Goalkeeper Julianna Hornikel halted two of the five shots she faced in goal.

 

On the offensive end, Nudds highlighted the afternoon with four shots, three of which were on goal. Grace Motuk followed with two shots, both on target.

 

The Redhawks finish the regular season with a pair of home contests, beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 18 against Pitt-Greensburg. Opening kick is slated for 3 p.m.
