Redhawks Secure Fifth Straight Shutout, Down Carlow 1-0

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's soccer continues to lock down its competition, as the Redhawks made it five straight shutouts and eight total on the season, in a 1-0 win over Carlow.

 

La Roche's impressive streak of not allowing a goal continues, as the total time has now reached a remarkable 452:07.

 

The lone tally came 4:42 into the second half, as freshman Finnleigh Gould netted her fifth goal of the season, as the Redhawks would hold that edge the remainder of the way.

 

The La Roche defense was exceptional, yet again, holding Carlow to 13 shots, in which only five managing to be on target.

 

Goalkeeper Julianna Hornikel earned the clean sheet yet again, as she halted all five shots that came towards the frame.

 

On the offensive end, Alexandra Mecchia pelted seven shots, putting five on target, while Alexis Nudds had four shots, three on goal.

 

The Redhawks now prepare for the final road game of the regular season, as they travel to Alfred, N.Y. to face Alfred State on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 4 p.m.
