Fourth Straight Shutout Lifts Redhawks To 5-0 Win

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's soccer continued its shutout streak on Saturday, blanking Pitt-Bradford 5-0.

This is the fourth straight game the Redhawks have not allowed a goal, extended that stretch to a total time of 362:07.

Freshman Grace Motuk was the tempo setter, scoring the first two goals of the game at 18:29 and 26:06, both unassisted.

Just before halftime, La Roche took a 3-0 lead as freshman Finnleigh Gould found the back of the net on an assist by Zaida Gonzalez Rosado.

After halftime, at 59:22, the Redhawks lead grew to 4-0 on an own goal by the Panthers, and then at 70:12 the scoring closed with a goal by senior Alexis Nudds, assisted by Gabriella Fazio.

The La Roche defense was exceptional, limiting Pitt-Bradford to just two shots in the game, while the Redhawks had 24 shots and 12 on goal.

Goalkeeper Julianna Hornikel earned the clean sheet and was successful stopping both of the attempts that came her way.

On the offensive end, Alexandra Mecchia had five shots, while Nudds had four and Gould had three. Four players shared the workload to put together a combined eight shots on goal, two each for team-high's.

La Roche now prepares for two away matches, beginning with Carlow on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at Highmark Stadium.
