PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's soccer opened its AMCC home schedule on Tuesday, battling Penn State Altoona to a scoreless draw.

Despite being held without a goal, it was a strong performance by the Redhawks offense, getting off 16 shots in the game, with six on goal.

La Roche had a grand opportunity late in the second half, but the initial shot by Alexandra Mecchia hit the crossbar and the follow up shot by Alexis Nudds was just wide to the right.

Nudds had a game-high eight shots on the game with three on goal, while Mecchia had three shots (zero on goal) and Victoria Biagetti had two shots, both on target.

The Redhawks defense limited the Lady Lions to seven shots and four on goal.

Julianna Hornikel faced all four shots on goal in the second half, stopping each that came towards her.

La Roche now has a pair of road conference matches coming up, beginning with Wells on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m.
