Redhawks Blank Geneva 1-0

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's soccer defended its home turf on Tuesday, defeating Geneva 1-0 in a hard-fought victory.

The lone goal of the contest came in the first half, when Gabriella Fazio found the back of the net at 23:41.

It was a goal that needed the conference as it was initially saved, then went off Fazio and a defender had the ball at the line, but it was deemed the ball crossed.

The second half, the Redhawks did a fantastic job defensively, parking the bus and limiting the Golden Tornadoes from having any quality chances.

For the game, Geneva did outshoot La Roche 11-7, with the Golden Tornadoes having six shots on goal and the Redhawks having three.

Julianna Hornikel picked up the clean sheet between the pipes, saving all six shots that came her way.

Fazio would go down as the shot leader offensively, as both of her shots were on target.

La Roche now begins a three-game road trip, beginning with St. Vincent on Friday, Sept. 15. Opening kick in Latrobe, Pa. is slated for 6 p.m.
