Women's Soccer Slated Eighth In AMCC Preseason Poll

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. – La Roche women's soccer was selected eighth in the 2023 AMCC Preseason Poll, released by the conference on Monday.

The Redhawks finished last season with a record of 2-10-3 overall and a mark of 1-5-1 in AMCC play.

La Roche returns Third Team All-AMCC selection Julianna Hornikel in net, while offensively, bringing back 80% of its goals scored, with seniors Alexandra Mecchia and Alexis Nudds combing for nine last season.

Leading the way in the poll is defending AMCC Champion Pitt-Greensburg, who is followed in second place by runner-up Penn State Behrend.

Rounding out the top five are Penn State Altoona, Alfred State and Mt. Aloysius.

The final spots ahead of the Redhawks include Hilbert in sixth place and Carlow in the seven spot.

Behind La Roche and rounding out the poll are newcomer Wells in ninth and Pitt-Bradford in 10th.

The regular season begins for the Redhawks on Friday, Sept. 1 when they host Thiel for a 5 p.m. kickoff from the Baierl Athletic Complex.

The AMCC Tournament will feature the top six teams in the standings, with the first round match-ups of #3 vs #6 and #4 vs #5 on Saturday, Oct. 28 at campus sites. The semifinals will be hosted by the top two seeds on Wednesday, Nov. 1 and the top remaining seed will host the AMCC Championship Game on Saturday, Nov. 4.
