WSOC Loses Heartbreaker to Muskingum

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The La Roche women's soccer team fell to Muskingum University Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference match at home, 3-2. After giving up the first goal of the contest to the Muskies, LRU scored two goals of their own to take a 2-1 lead heading into halftime. Unfortunatley, Muskingum would spoil the home team's lead by scoring two more in the second. The Redhawks are now 2-6-1 overall this season while Muskingum improves to 2-8.

Senior forward Alondra Gonzalez (Beaver Falls, PA / Blackhawk) scored her team-high third goal of the season in the 28th minute to make it a 1-1 contest. Gonzalez powered through multiple Muskie defenders before striking the ball right over the goalkeepers head and into the back of the net.

Junior midfielder Leticia Alcaraz Romero (Madrid, Spain / Margarita Salas) scored her first career goal seven minutes later off a corner kick from junior midfielder Carola Corbi Guirao (Alicante, Spain / IES Platja de Sant Joan). Leti headed the ball right off the corner-kick and was able to get it across the goal line.

The visitors regained the lead in the second half with two goals from Muskingum's Morgan Meisel. The Muskies would go on to win 3-2.

UP NEXT: The Redhawks travel to Pitt Bradford on Saturday, October 2nd at 1:00 p.m. for a conference match.
