Phillis Scores Game Winner as Redhawks Pick Up Conference Win at Hilbert
Hamburg, NY -- The La Roche women's soccer team soared under the sky on Saturday afternoon. They hit the road for a conference game at Hilbert and came away with a 1-0 victory.

Kerri Phillis netted the winning goal on a feed from Alondra Gonzalez. La Roche outshot Hilbert 34-7 and held a 9-1 advantage on corner kicks.

The Redhawks played with energy throughout the first half. Marissa Johnson nearly found the game winner just two minutes into the contest, but both teams entered halftime in a scoreless tie. La Roche had 15 shots in the first half while Hilbert managed just three.

Hungry for a goal, Phillis came out of intermission and scored the first tally in the forty sixth minute. Gonzalez ran down the ball and sent a short feed into the box to Phillis. Staying composed, Phillis finished into the back of Hilbert's net for a 1-0 Redhawks' lead. The La Roche offense continued to bring pressure, and they outshot Hilbert 19-4. The defense stayed strong and connected, requiring goalkeeper Jess Welka to make just one save. The Redhawks held for the 1-0 victory and their first conference game win.

The Redhawks will look for their second straight victory this Wednesday when they host Pitt Greensburg.
