
HILBERT, N.Y. – La Roche women's lacrosse cruised to a 4-0 record in AMCC play and earned their 10th victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Hilbert, 17-3.
The Redhawks wasted no time jumping in front, scoring the first of their six, first quarter goals, at 13:37 when Jasey Reiser found the back of the net.
Reiser's goal started a stretch of five unanswered in the first quarter, including goals by Alex Mecchia, Alecia D'Urso (assisted by Mecchia), Reiser again (assisted by Kinsey Sperling) and Kiki Nemcek (assisted by D'Urso).
Hilbert's lone goal of the not only the quarter, but the half, came at 5:40, then D'Urso closed the scoring at 23 seconds.
La Roche would add five more goals in the second quarter and put the mercy rule clock into effect with 3:09 remaining.
Two goals were scored in the opening 44 seconds of the second, first by Nemcek, assisted by Sperling, the Reiser with her third of the game.
Jade Fuccaro would find the back of the net off an assist from Nicole Schroeder, then Mecchia and D'Urso closed the first half scoring with unassisted goals to send the Redhawks into the break up 11-1.
Out of the break, D'Urso would move the game to 12-1, but the Hawks would stop the mercy rule clock with a pair of goals at 11:35 and 5:48 to make it 12-3.
Mecchia would set the mercy rule clock back into effect at 3:35 of the third and started a stretch of five straight goals over the remainder of the contest.
Nemcek would score the last goal of the third, then in the fourth, Sperling scored a pair, one of which was assisted by Kayla Mull and Nemcek added another off a Reiser helper.
The shot total was all La Roche, outshooting HIlbert, 32-9 and 28-5 in shots on goal.
D'Urso would lead the offense with five points and four goal, while Nemcek stuffed the stat line with four goals, seven ground balls, eight draw controls and four caused turnovers.
Mecchia also added four points (three goals and an assist) and contributed four ground balls, five draw controls and three caused turnovers, with Reiser also chipping in three goals, one assist, four ground balls, seven draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers.
La Roche closes its three-game road trip on Thursday, Apr. 17 when they face Alfred State. Opening draw is set for 5 p.m.
