PITTSBURGH, Pa. – La Roche women's lacrosse cruised to its sixth victory of the season, defeating Hilbert, 21-6, in the AMCC opener.
The first quarter was even as the two teams battled to a 3-2 score in favor of the Redhawks.
Alecia D'Urso opened the scoring just nine seconds into the game to give La Roche the early lead.
Hilbert would tie the game almost five minutes later, then the Redhawks regained the lead with a pair off Jade Fuccaro goals that came within 11 seconds of each other to go up 3-1.
The final goal of the opening quarter went to the Hawks, making it 3-2 going into the second quarter.
La Roche dominated the second quarter, scoring 10 of the 11 goals in the quarter, including the first nine.
Fuccaro exploded for four goals in the frame, D'Urso added three more goals, Jasey Reiser picked up a pair and Kiki Nemcek added one of her own.
Kinsey Sperling helped on four goals in the quarter, while Jaina Ilko also picked up an assist, as the score read 13-3 at the break.
Out of the half, La Roche score three more times, twice by Alex Mecchia and one from Nicole Schroeder, while Hilbert picked up a single goal to move the score to 16-4.
The Redhawks kept the goals coming in the fourth, scoring five of the seven in the final quarter.
Reiser picked up two more goals, while Fuccaro scored her seventh of the game, Nemcek her second and Sperling netted her first with one second left.
Reiser, Sperling and Schroeder all were rewarded with assists in the fourth quarter.
The shot total ended in favor of La Roche, 41-13 and shots on goal were 35-10.
La Roche returns to action on Wednesday, Apr. 2 when they travel to face Ursuline. Opening draw is slated for 3 p.m.
