STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – La Roche women's lacrosse suffered its first loss of the season on Wednesday, falling to Franciscan, 20-6.
The first quarter started out well for the Redhawks, as Jade Fuccaro scored just 1:52 in and then at 6:42, took a 2-0 lead when Jasey Reiser scored on a free position shot.
The remainder of the first and the second quarter belonged to the Barons, outscoring La Roche 12-1 in that stretch to take a 12-3 lead into the half.
The lone Redhawk goal in the second quarter opened the scoring when Alecia D'Urso scored on an assist by Kinsey Sperling.
Out of the half, the third quarter was again all Franciscan, outscoring La Roche, 6-0.
The fourth quarter was competitive, despite being out of reach, with the Redhawks scoring three goals to match the Barons.
Fuccaro scored a pair of goals, assisted by D'Urso and Reiser, while D'Urso also added an unassisted tally.
The shot total ended in favor of Franciscan, 35-17 and shots on goal were 30-10.
La Roche returns to action on Saturday, Mar. 22 when they travel to face Trinity (D.C.). Opening faceoff is slated for 3 p.m.
