Redhawks Roll In 2025 Season Opener

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - La Roche women's lacrosse began the 2025 season on Wednesday and cruised to a dominant, 22-2 victory over Geneva.

The Redhawks opened the game scoring eight unanswered goals, including three by Alecia D'Urso and Jade Fuccaro and one by both Jasey Reiser and Kiki Nemcek.

The Golden Tornadoes picked up the final goal of the first to make it 8-1.

La Roche added six more goals in the second quarter, as D'Urso picked up two more goals, as well as Kinsey Sperling, while Reiser and Nemcek each scored their second of the game, giving the Redhawks a 14-1 lead at halftime.

Out of the break, La Roche again shut out Geneva, scoring five in the third quarter to move ahead 19-1.

In the third, Alex Mecchia picked up three goals, Sperling scored her third of the game and Nicole Schroeder netted her first career goal.

The fourth saw the Redhawks pick up three more tallies, as Fuccaro, Nemcek and D'Urso all found the back of the net, then the Golden Tornadoes ended the scoring.

D'Urso made a hugh impact in her first game, netting six goals, dished out four assists, caused three turnovers and picked up a pair of ground balls.

Fuccaro finished with four goals, two ground balls and two draw controls, while Nemcek, Mecchia and Sperling all scored three goals.

Nemcek also contributed three ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers, Mecchia added three ground balls and two caused turnovers and Reiser ended with eight draw controls and two ground balls.

La Roche returns to action on Tuesday, Mar. 4 when Bethany comes to town. Opening faceoff is set for 4 p.m.
