Fuccaro and Nemcek Named Preseason Players of the Year, Redhawks Picked Second In AMCC Poll

NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. - La Roche women's lacrosse swept the Preseason Player of the Year awards and were selected second in the AMCC Preseason Poll, announced by the conference on Wednesday.

The Redhawks, as previously noted, were selected second in the poll behind only Mt. Aloysius, the 2024 AMCC Tournament runner-up. Rounding out the poll are newcomer, Alfred State and Hilbert.

La Roche did sweep the preseason awards, as Jade Fuccaro was named the 2025 Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.

Fuccaro put together one of the best single seasons in La Roche's young program history in 2024.

Fuccaro ended the season with a program single season record 32 goals, placing her sixth in the AMCC, while also picking up four assists and having a shot on goal percentage of 78.7%.

Beyond the offensive numbers, Fuccaro scooped up 16 ground balls, caused six turnovers and also reeled in six draw controls.

After a stellar freshman season, Kiki Nemcek earned herself Preseason Defensive Player of the Year honors.

On the offensive end, Nemcek scored 17 goals and added a pair of assists, while also shooting 81% on net.

Defensively, Nemcek scooped up 38 ground balls, placing her sixth in the AMCC, earned 34 draw controls which was a team high and fifth most in the AMCC.

Furthermore, Nemcek caused 28 turnovers, not only a team high, but the second most in the AMCC and she ranked top 65 in the country in caused turnovers per game.

The Redhawks open play next Wednesday, Feb. 26 as they welcome Geneva at 4 p.m.

The rest of the home schedule includes, Bethany (Mar. 4), St. Vincent (Mar. 15), Hilbert (Mar. 29), Alfred State (Apr. 5) and Mt. Aloysius (Apr. 24).

Road contests see the red and black travel to Spalding (Mar. 8), Franciscan (Mar. 19), Trinity (D.C) (Mar. 22), Ursuline (Apr. 2), Mt. Aloysius (Apr. 8), Hilbert (Apr. 12) and Alfred State (Apr. 17).
