Redhawks Fall To Express On Road

AURORA, N.Y. – La Roche women's lacrosse stuck to the road for a matchup against Wells, but it was the Express coming away with a 24-3 victory in AMCC play.

Wells scored the opening tally 38 seconds into the first, but the Redhawks would respond 49 seconds later as Jade Fuccaro tied the game 1-1 on an assist from Kinsey Sperling.

Over the next 12 plus minutes, the Express scored nine unanswered to build a 10-1 lead.

La Roche netted the final goal of the first, as Sperling scored, assisted by Jasey Reiser to make it 10-2. 

Wells would score all six goals netted in the seconds period and took a 16-2 lead into the half.

After the Express upped the lead to 18-2 out of the break, the final Redhawk goal came with 5:23 left in the third as Sperling scored unassisted.

Wells would end the game scoring two more in the third and four in the fourth.

The shot total was in favor of the Express 52-5 and shots on goal were 43-4.

Julianna Hornikel started in net playing three quarters, stopping 14 of the 34 shots she faced. Sperling played the final quarter, stopping five of the nine shots on goal, while also leading the team with three shots and two on goal.

Kiki Nemcek led La Roche with four ground balls.

The Redhawks return home for a pair of games, beginning Wedmesday, Apr. 17 when they host Mt. Aloysius. Faceoff is set for 4 p.m.
