NORTH BOSTON, N.Y. - La Roche women's lacrosse goalkeeper Julianna Hornikel was awarded her second consecutive AMCC Defensive Player of the Week honor to open the 2024 season.

Hornikel was once again strong in goal for the Redhawks during a 1-1 week.

Hornikel picked up a victory on Thursday over Waynesburg, the first home opener victory in the young program's four seasons.

Hornikel made eight saves in the 18-7 win, while adding five ground balls and forcing a turnover.

In Saturday's defeat at the hands of Westminster, Hornikel came through with 10 more saves, collected one ground ball and added two more caused turnovers.
