Hornikel, Liguori, and Chalmers earn United East All-Conference Honors in Women's Lacrosse

PITTSBURGH, PA - The United East Conference office released the Women's Lacrosse 2023 All-Conferenced Teams this morning and La Roche is excited to announce there are three Women's Lacrosse Athletes making the list. 

Jules Hornikel 

Jules has been named to the First Team All-Conference as a goalkeeper. This season Jules was a starting, rooking goalie and the anchor of the Redhawks' defense. She was named Defensive Player of the Week, where she recorded 12 saves, and caused 10 turnovers and 4 ground balls in her very first start at La Roche. 

Hornikel currently leads the conference in the following:

  • Saves per game (12.9), season total of 129 saves

  • Save Percentage (43.3%, as of April 24th)

  • Total caused turnovers (30), 

  • Second in caused turnovers per game (3)

  • Total ground balls (44) 

    • Is second in average of ground balls per game 

Jules is currently tied for 11th in the country for caused turnover per game and is the only goalkeeper in this category in the top 100 players of NCAA D3 (as of 4/26/23). 

She is also ranked 32nd nationally in average ground balls per game. 

Cecilia Liguori

Cece was named to the United East Second Team All-Conference. This season Ligouri was Senior Captain and a starting midfielder for the Redhawks. She is currently 3rd on the team in points. She leads her team in draw controls and is second on the team in ground balls. Ligouri has currently ranked 8th in the United East Conference in average caused turnovers per game (15/1.36 average) She is also currently 9th in ground balls per game (30/2.73 average).

Jade Chalmers 

Jade was named to the United East Second Team All-Conference as a defender for the Redhawks. Chalmers in her senior season was tasked with marking up the team's opponent's biggest threats, usually their opponent's top scorer. She ended the season with 10 caused turnovers.
