Women's Bowling Places Third at Mountie Mid State

ALTOONA, PA - The Redhawks headed to Altoona for the Mountie's Roundup this past weekend to face fellow AMCC teams Penn State Altoona, Mount Aloysius, and Penn State Behrend as well as Wright State out of Dayton, Ohio.

The ladies headed into Saturday's traditional matches with confidence as they rolled into the win over Mount Aloysius (698-689). Having a BYE for their second match, the team was able to reset and prepare for the remaining match-ups. Wright State was the only loss of the day against the Redhawks who gave them a run with a high game of 209 from Ashley Kennedy and a high team game of 842. With wins over Penn State Behrend and Penn State Altoona, the Redhawks qualified in 3rd with a 2-2 win/loss record and an overall team average on the day of 154.2.

Winter Brown finished Saturday with an average of 161.2 (806 series), placing her 6th on the All-Tournament Team. Ashley Kennedy had a great day on the lanes finishing with a 934 series, averaging 186.8 putting her in 2nd place overall on the All-Tournament Team.

Sunday's bracket-play was 3 sets, the Best out of 7 Baker Games which always prove to be exciting competition among the teams. La Roche met Penn State Altoona first taking the win in 5 games (754-689). Next up, Penn State Behrend wanted to redeem their loss from Saturday winning the first 3 games. In Game 5, La Roche had the opportunity to push it to another game but fell one pin short losing to Behrend losing match 764-827. The final set against Mount Aloysius started with a tie game. That sparked the Redhawks and went on to win the next 4 straight (807-665).

An excellent outing for the team with an overall finish of 3rd, a 5-2 record for the weekend, and 2 top 6 All-Tournament Team players.
